Going beyond conventional norms, Dani skillfully manipulates exposures and embraces unconventional development processes, resulting in a refreshing perspective on reality in his latest exhibition, Inner Garden. What sparked Dani's photographic journey was the local poetry festival, and now, McGregor's gardens serve as his canvas. Diverging from traditional landscape photography, Dani employs experimental techniques both in the field and the digital darkroom. The resulting images gracefully border the realms of representation and abstraction. Nature retains its essence yet appears subtly distorted, while forms are suggested but remain charmingly indistinct. ‘These final artworks represent a willingness to experiment, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, and unveiling new visions of reality,’ says Dani. Born and raised in Italy, Dani moved to South Africa in 2011 to leave the fast-paced European lifestyle and business world behind. Mcgregor’s tranquil setting allowed his passion for photography, once a pastime, to organically evolve into something deeper. Photographs at the Edge of Reality and Imagination Dani presents his latest collection of images at this innovative exhibition. Captured within the verdant gardens of McGregor, these photographs push the boundaries of what the camera lens can see. Venturing beyond traditional landscape photography, Dani explored experimental techniques in both the field and the digital darkroom. By manipulating exposures, and embracing an unorthodox developing process, He has created images that straddle the line between representation and abstraction. Nature is visible yet distorted, forms are suggested yet indistinct. Walking through these gardens, Dani saw not just beauty but possibility. Each flower, tree, and shimmering reflection presented an opportunity to challenge convention and see the world anew. These final artworks are the tangible results of a willingness to experiment, to transform the mundane into the extraordinary, and to reveal new visions of reality. a group exhibition featuring five local artists and their unique interpretations of life in the village of McGregor. Opening October 7th and running through October 29th, “Coalescence” includes works by Joni-Leigh Doran, Richard Joshua, James de Knoop, Mark Chipps, and Dani’s Photos that explore how the village’s natural surroundings, architecture, and community come together to form McGregor’s distinct character. Each artist has interpreted their village in a distinct way, from Doran’s delicate and colorful oil paintings to Joshua’s portraits oil on mixed media. De Knoop, network canals are part of his ongoing studies of light and shadow, while Chipps, a professional photographer, has focused on the natural beauty surrounding McGregor and its people. Dani’s Photos rounds out the group with a curated collection of superimposed images. Though each artist has a unique style and subject matter, their works are tied together by a shared appreciation for the village they call home. "Coalescence" is a celebration of McGregor’s natural surroundings, architecture, and community coming together to create a place unlike any other. Visitors will gain a deeper understanding of what makes this village so special through the eyes of these five local artists. Built in 2016 the gallery’s organic architecture creates a wonderful synergy with the peaceful and rustic ambiance of McGregor village. Natural light floods the gallery through reclaimed Oregon pine windows and doors. Here you can meet Dani and view his latest photographs and fine art prints.
